What I Believe

“I dream of creating a safe community where we move, write, speak, draw, cry, scream, curse, dance and express from the depth of our souls. Listening to deep secrets, uncensored. Sitting eye to eye, drinking tea, biting into chocolates, accepting each other’s stories unconditionally.”

“We have all been traumatized. Some more than others. Trauma is not special–it is part of the lived experience.”

-William Smythe MA

Trauma is in the body. It can begin in the womb. It is physical, physiological, emotional, and hidden in every cell of your body. It is ancient and mystical, mythical and mysterious. Trauma is the language of the ruptured soul. A creative, symbolic, and emotional language that inspires, urges, and guides you toward self-trust, self-awareness, and self-worth.

"Women's connection to the body excavates cathartic emotions from the soul through art. It embodies the path of feminine strength and the power of the heart."

— Marta Luzim, MS

I believe therapy is the safest, freest place for self-discovery and healing

To be held in curiosity, exploration, creativity, and freedom to express, feel, and be received by a mentor, sacred guide, and experienced healer who has trained, walked, talked, and lived the path of healing and recovery and can help you travel into your psyche, shadow, and frozen trauma is an ongoing path of self-realization and self-love

I believe a therapist can only guide as far as they have gone

As a survivor and forty-year practitioner of trauma,  I believe in applying and guiding individuals through cathartic, creative, intuitive, and embodied approaches to recover from trauma.

I also believe a practitioner can only go as far as they have gone in their own journey, as far as they have dived into their emotions, shadows, trauma, stories, and pain.

I believe your inner wounded child holds the core of your trauma

As children, you are meant to be innocent, organic, and blossom

Yet, so much happens before you reach six. You are born into families that hurt your heart rather than nourish your soul. You are taught patterns, beliefs, and feelings that are the result of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. You are taught, ‘you should, should you should. You have to, have to, have to.’ Act appropriately, walk straight, cross your legs, be polite, don’t make waves, keep secrets, and never tell anyone what happened. You minimize your sensitive nature, believing feelings are weak and emotions are immature, and you hide your deepest needs

I believe therapy is the repair of the world

You can only heal and change yourself. As you repair, you help repair the world. Recovering and reclaiming your true self is a transformational and rebellious act of choosing to heal—an individuation, unique, and self-created path to self-knowledge.

I believe we have all been traumatized in one way or another

Trauma causes shame, grief, false identities, unworthiness, codependency, addiction, chronic illness, unexpressed fear, and frozen memories. This pretense and cover-up cause power/control, avoidance, and isolation.

Your body gets ill, and your mind is confused by false myths which deaden your soul. The cause and cure lie within your heartbreak and retrieval of the inner child who lost the connection to her/his heart and soul

I believe therapy is a sacred alchemical, metaphysical, transpersonal, and personal somatic healing.

Healing is not curing, fixing, or solving a problem. Healing is coming into the body. It is a lifetime journey of gathering, integrating, feeling, expressing, transpersonally and personally breaking away from unconscious and limiting generational and societal family patterns.

I believe therapy is the heroines and heroes' journey

Healing is self-knowing, self-love, and self-respect. It is knowing and telling your generational story of where you come from, what happened, and who you are. Healing is self-knowledge and radical self-acceptance

I believe therapy is a creative, spiritual, and mythical process of individuation

I believe the healing process is creative, nonlinear, and ongoing

To heal and tell your story, to be heard, seen, and guided to believe in your experience and feelings, and to trust your memories and imagination is the process of self-knowledge and self-healing.

Trauma is a somatic dive into the energetics of the body and psyche. This is where language and knowledge of the feminine process and story live, where images, memories, intuition, self-trust of creative sensations, imagination, and emotions thrive.

To tell your story is to heal your life.

I believe therapy and healing are ancient.  Modern therapy is scientific.

Trauma is generational.  It is complex, intricate and intimate to who you are and your experience of yourself.  It started the moment humankind was created.  Our ancestors accessed their soul, spirit, and psyche and talked to nature, the cosmos, their instincts, intuition, and primal feelings to hear and feel their way through life.  Modern healing is scientific and does not work to heal the heart, soul, and body. Scientific understanding of the brain gives us information on how trauma affects you long-term, mind, body, and soul.

I believe we live in a multi-dimensional, multi-personality universe, fragmented by trauma and blessed with unconditional love.

We are humans maturing into wise, primal beings. Enlightenment, as it is taught, causes perfectionism, addiction, and shame. We are here to heal and reclaim our instincts, intuition, creative voice, experiences, and instinctual, intuitive emotions—our original connection to the earth, hearts, and bodies. Olam Tikkum—repairing the broken world and ourselves is the purpose of being alive.

When you can unconditionally accept your human shadow, tribal roots, and family dysfunction and embody your broken heart, is when you create a space to be whole

The remembrance that Life is art. Life is messy. Art is messy. Life is imperfect. There is no either/or. Just being in the experience of your own life. Life is a recovery of your soul.

Go deep, be courageous, and to thine own self be true.
